In open-loop extraction, solvent is passed through the material and vented to the atmosphere, creating safety and waste concerns. Closed-loop extraction recirculates the solvent within a sealed system, recovering it for reuse. This makes closed-loop systems safer (reduced flammable vapor exposure), more efficient, and compliant with regulatory standards commonly required in pharmaceutical, food, and cannabis processing environments.

Artesian Systems offers tri clamp gaskets and screen gaskets in BUNA-N (Nitrile), VITON/FKM, PTFE/Teflon, and PTFE x EPDM (envelope and unitized styles). Each material offers different chemical compatibility and temperature performance, with all options meeting FDA, USDA, and 3-A Sanitary Standards for use in regulated processing environments.

Screen gaskets are available in 5 micron, 20 micron, and 100 micron filtration ratings. The 5-micron option provides the finest filtration, ideal for removing fine particulates, while 100-micron screens are suited for coarser straining applications. All screens use 316L Stainless Steel construction to ensure durability and sanitary compliance.

Yes. All gasket and screen products in this category comply with FDA 21CFR177.2600 and FDA 21CFR177.1550. Products are also approved under 3-A Sanitary Standards and USDA guidelines. Additionally, all materials have passed U.S.P. Class VI Cytotoxicity testing, confirming biocompatibility for pharmaceutical, food, and beverage processing applications.

Sizes vary by product. Screen gaskets are available in 1.5", 2", 2.5", 3", 4", and 6" tri clamp sizes. Envelope and unitized PTFE x EPDM gaskets are available in larger sizes up to 12". The full size range for each product is listed on its individual product page.

No. PTFE-based gaskets — including PTFE screen gaskets and PTFE x EPDM envelope and unitized gaskets — are not recommended for use with bolted clamp assemblies. Additionally, standard PSI sanitary clamp service ratings do not apply to connections 1" and above using PTFE gaskets due to the potential for cold flow. This restriction does not apply to fractional 1/2" and 3/4" sizes.
