A ferrule is the flanged end fitting welded or attached to tubing that creates the connection face. A tri clamp (also called a sanitary clamp or tri-clover clamp) is the external fastener that draws two ferrule ends together over a gasket to form a sealed joint. The gasket sits between the two ferrules; the clamp applies the clamping force.
